Freedom meal at the Magic Circus

On Liberation Day Friday 5 May 2023 we celebrate our freedom. For the first time in history a freedom meal will take place in a circus. Magic Circus, the Dutch City Circus, will organize the meal as a lunch from 12:00 to 14:00 in their Magic Dome circus tent, which is very appropriately located on Annie Romeinplein in Amsterdam South East. Registration is not required, but is appreciated. People who sign up are sure of a cup of freedom soup and a seat.

During lunch there is program with attention to the impact of the Second World War on, among other things, the international circus world. For example, there is the story of circus director Toni Boltini who saved the Weiss family, known from the Tata Mirando orchestra, from certain death in Auschwitz. Of course also attention to the role that Annie Romein played in realizing the publication of Anne Frank’s Diary.

The freedom lunch in the Magic Circus is made possible thanks to the Amsterdam 4 and 5 May Committee.
